Boltardy beetroot at 8 weeks

Boltardy beetroot at 8 weeks
The beetroot at 8 weeks is just starting to show some roots at the foot of the plant.  I've been reading about this, and will need to thin out the plants shortly, in order to let the others have room to grow to their full potential, but I hope to get some small edible beetroots from the thinnings, rather than do it now.

Boltardy Beetroot update after 6 weeks

Still no sign of any beetroot poking through the soil, but hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I'll see the first signs.

It still seems to be growing strongly, but still a long way off getting a crop I think.  Not much else to add, so a few photos instead.

Boltardy Beetroot

This is the second beetroot variety I planted, the Boltardy Beetroot.  They went in on 12th April, and seedlings had shown themselves by 20th April.  So now three weeks in, and they are starting to grow stronger.

These differ from the other variety I'm growing (the Alto F1 Hybrid beetroot) and these should be small and round.  Reading other sites, it seems i can pick a few when they are small as "baby beets" and then let the others grow on to a larger size.
